HEMSWORTH MW, who make their debut in the Northern Counties East Division 1 this Saturday, have boosted confidence and support with a string of friendly victories.
MW produced an outstanding team performance to beat UniBond Premier Division Guiseley 1-0.

The deadlock was broken in the 65th minute when Damion Liddle beat the visiting keeper to a through-ball and slotted it into the net.

Lee Swift and Steve
Cox were outstanding for Hemsworth.

Entertaining a Barnsley Academy XI, managed by former MW player Ronnie Branson, Hemsworth came out 6-1 winners.

A mistimed back pass to keeper Ian McHarg led to Barnsley grabbing an early goal, only for the home side to respond, Graham Phillips crossing from the right for Damion Liddle to level before Liddle provided a pinpoint centre for Gary Welka to head them in front.

The game was mainly one-sided in the second half, Phillips volleying in the third goal after 55 minutes before Liddle was fouled and Paul Banton converted the resulting penalty.

Liddle got the fifth after a slick one-two with Neil Towler, while the success was crowned by a left foot scorcher by Andy Davis.

Hosting Mexborough Main Street, Hemsworth had a 5-2 success.

The visitors took advantage of a defensive mistake to open the scoring, only for MW to level three minutes later, Liddle being brought down and Phillips putting away the spot kick.

Phillips was on target again on the half hour and went on to complete his hat trick after the break as Hemsworth gained command, Lee Mulroe and Liddle completing the nap hand before Main Street managed a late consolation.

Hemsworth MW Res went down 5-1 to a strong Royston side, Lee Mulroe reducing the arrears.

MW visit Rossington Main in the Northern Counties East this Saturday, kick-off 3pm, meet clubhouse 1pm.
