BLUES boss Billy Heath is hoping his men don't make a false start when they welcome Marine to Westfield Lane on Saturday, writes Nick Rigg.
Frickley have kicked off their season in impressive style with a win and a draw from their opening two games.
But the Blues boss has been concerned at the slow start his men have made in their games, gifting Witton Albion an early opener last week
end and allowing Whitby to make a bright start on Tuesday night.
“We need to work on getting out of the blocks quickly,” he said.
“Especially at home we have to put pressure on teams up the pitch.”
Heath’s concerns show just how far the Blues have come since he was re-appointed manager halfway through last season, with Frickley lingering at the bottom of the division.
But his worries may be justified – Marine have won two out of two this season and are a favourite for promotion.
“Marine are always a powerful team, so we’ll have to stand strong against them,” Heath said. “But this season we have the players to do that and I’m confident we can get something from the game.”
The Blues face two games in three days with a trip to Ilkeston Town on Bank Holiday Monday, kick-off 3pm.
Steve Heath is the only player in doubt following an achilles injury at Witton on Saturday.
