BATON-twirling youngsters from Havercroft swept the board with first, second and third prizes in a recent competition.
The Silverstars Dance Troupe competed against West Yorkshire teams at the Northern Majorette Association competition held in Havercroft and Ryhill Sports and Youth Centre.

The young majorettes received their prizes for baton, flag, pom-pom and combination routines.

Club leaders Tracey Conway and Sally Nelson say they are very proud of the youngsters.

Ms Conway said: “They worked their socks off and deserved all they got in the competition. They are very dedicated and train three nights a week at the sports centre and in Havercroft J&I School.

“I would like to thank all parents and Sally for her help, because the club would have folded without her.

“In last year’s competition we were the northern majorettes of the year in all sections.”

The club has been running for six years and now has 30 members, but Ms Conway says new members are welcome.

She said: “We are currently looking for new members to join, young and old. We are also raising funds to take the club to the Northern Majorette Association competitions in Filey next May.

“Any donations would be greatly appreciated.”

For more information, call Ms Conway on 07836719071.
