Climbing rapidly and with great justification up the clubland tree are three all-singing and all-dancing guys, who are collectively known as Three.

I first saw these guys when I compered a charity event at the legendary clubland venue The Dial House. This most famous of clubland venues was allowed to close quite recently and one of the last shows to be staged there was a huge charity event, at which comedian Billy Pearce topped the bill.
This was a great night for all of us involved and Three, as I recall, made their debut on that night.
Hemsworth Miners Social Club at Fitzwilliam will be visited by Three when this polished vocal trio make an appearance at the club on Sunday evening.
Next Wednesday evening ( July 19) will see a showcase evening being staged at Outwood wmc. Those behind the show are the Wakefield and Pontefract concert secretaries federation and young Normanton lass Kirsty Bowers, who I mentioned in this column only recently after seeing her singing at a charity show in the Wakefield area, will be compere for the evening.
I'm told that Kirsty will be introducing acts like Full Fat Funk, Clare Louise, Lacie Jay and Cats Eyes. It all sounds like a great night in the making.
The Candlelighters charity fund enjoys huge support across Wakefield and the Five Towns district and this well known children's cancer and leukaemia charity will hold a special concert evening over in the Leeds area at The Beacon pub in Bramley on July 26.
Singer songwriter Rob Russell Davies is the man behind the concert, which will feature recording artistes like Beth Wheatley and Naomi Murray. Clubland duo Aztec will also be making an appearance. All Candelighters supporters love to hear about events like this one in West Yorkshire, so I am happy to pass on the happy news about such a great concert and a worthwhile cause.
The extremely glamorous and talented Hull-based singing star Lisa Kelsey will be the star attraction at Ryhill Liberal Club this weekend when she makes a Sunday night appearance. I saw Lisa not too long ago appearing in a concert with lots of other artistes at Hull City Hall and she certainly impressed on that occasion!
I am very happy to report that I have been invited to the 18th birthday party of new clubland star Laura Ellis this weekend. I was delighted to accept and no doubt everyone there will reflect on her remarkable first year in clubland, during which she has won a major talent competition, acquired a new agent in the shape of Harry Heywood from Ricky Graham Leisure and appeared in the Channel 4 show Sweet Sixteen.
Laura is a real prospect and it will be interesting to see how she progresses now in the wider entertainment industry, where I predict she could branch out in the direction of in the not too distant future.
Having just returned from what started out as a sunshine holiday in Bulgaria, I should thank Hemsworth entertainer Kevin Kane on his recommendation of the place, after he himself made it his holiday destination last year. What Kevin couldn't have foreseen was the massive electric thunderstorms, the flash floods and the loss of all electrical power that rather put a dampener on things, in more ways than one, on the last two days of my well-earned break. When it rains in Bulgaria, my goodness does it rain!
If you have any news or views on clubland entertainment I would love to hear from you. Getting in touch just couldn't be easier, you could call the clubland hot-line number and leave a message for me on the answering machine, the number is 01924 220211.
Alternatively you could write to me at the Express or e mail mark-ritchie@btconnect.com
