TOP band Big Business are booked to appear at Hemsworth Miners Social Club in Fitzwilliam on Sunday evening.

This great lively band have been around for some time and never fail to impress.
Hemsworth Miners concert secretary Keith McIntyre was in touch with the news that Big Business were set to appear and Sunday, August 24 should be just as lively at this great club, as they are set for a visit from top Northeast band The Boyz.
The brilliant Ricky K will be the man on stage at Girnhill Lane this weekend as this quite brilliant all-singing, all-dancing star hits the stage on Sunday evening.
Ricky really is in my view one of the best solo prospects in the UK and in any other generation but this one, I believe that he would be a huge TV star.
5th Avenue and Christina Myers are just two of the talented acts visiting Kellingley Social Centre over the next few weeks.
5th Avenue are a thoroughly entertaining, all-action husband and wife team from Leeds and Christina is a very talented local singer, who lives very close to the club, so no huge petrol bills for her when she takes to the stage at Kellingley on Sunday, August 24.
Incidentally, and still on the subject of Kellingley Social Centre, a date for your diaries just has to be Saturday, August 30 as the brilliant Jade Adams is set to appear and she is, in my view, simply unmissable.
Top band Desilva are set to rock Featherstone wmc this weekend as they are set to make a Friday night appearance at the club.
If you love classic rock this is the band for you.
I bumped into John Walsh, of Wakefield and Pontefract Concert Secretaries Federation, last Sunday evening as I took a look around the newly re-built and re-opened Brookhouse Club in Wakefield.
John has come up with a first-rate idea for a fundraising show, which should really be presented in the Pontefract area.
I won't go into John's idea too much as it is still in the planning stages, but I believe that if it come to fruition, this could provide one of the club nights of the year for the lucky club that chooses to offer their facilities.
I will include more about John's plans in a future issue, but remember you read about it first right here!
Express reader Melvin Buckley, who lives in Kinsley, was in touch last week with news that Wakefield band Hank Muldoon and the Hangovers are rocking everywhere they play.
Melvin is always keen to follow the local music scene and he tells me that he intends to visit The Beeches Club in Hemsworth this weekend as the brilliant Rio Madness are set to play there on Sunday evening.
As I reported in the Express only a couple of weeks ago, I worked in a show the other week with Ackworth singer and entertainer Ricky Graham.
Ricky appears on Saturday, August 23 at Willow Park Club in Pontefract.
My own view is that Ricky is working better than ever after a long break from our club stages.
Why not go along and catch his act at Willow Park and see if I'm right?
If you have any news or views for this column I would like to hear from you.
Just drop me a line at the Express or call my office number and leave a message on my answering system, the number is 01924 370400.
