Roundhill WMC in Castleford is in the news this week after Express reader and entertainer Ian Jefferson was in touch by e-mail.
Ian is a member of local act The Bruvvas Blue and his act is the star attraction at a concert to be held at the club this weekend.
This Friday night is the night that the club is celebrating its 40th anniversary, which surely makes Roundhill one of the newest clubs in the district.
I hope the evening goes really well.
Local charity fundraiser Dennis Gabriel is organising his local Children In Need concert a little late in the day this year.
Dennis has raised thousands for this well-known BBC charity over the years, with concerts at Glasshoughton wmc.
This year, however, Dennis tells me he has been a little under the weather and hasn't had time to put things together in his usual efficient fashion.
Dennis is now asking local acts who are not working this Friday night to offer their services.
If there are any talented people reading this column who would like to help out, Dennis can be contacted via the club.
It's great to see Ackworth entertainer Ricky Graham doing so well after his return to club work.
Ricky had some time away from the stage and it seems that the break has done him good.
It's also grand to see club star Tony Wayne triumphed at the recent Leeds C&IU club awards show, which was held at the Harehills Labour Club.
Tony is a massive favourite in this area and I hear many of his local fans made the journey over to Leeds on the big night.
Rounding up the other news this week, I can report that Neil Siddall from Featherstone WMC was in touch with news of a fundraising evening for the Featherstone and District Education Foundation.
Two local bands, Coyote and Brasil, will be playing and the £4 ticket also includes a pie and peas supper.
Unfortunately Neil didn't include the date of this event in his e-mail but after I rang the club, I was informed the gig is this weekend, on Friday night.
Hemsworth star entertainer Kevin Kane won't have too far to go for his gig this weekend as he heads up to the West End Club in Hemsworth on Saturday night.
I always said Kevin would end up in the West End and it seems that my prediction has come true!
Hemsworth Miners' Social Club in Fitzwilliam has a star night to look forward to this weekend, with the appearance of hi-tech two-boy act Bluezonia on Sunday night.
This act is highly sought after, so be early for a great night out when the boys take the stage.
Moorthorpe Empire Club has a visit from one of the best solo female singers on the scene Natalie Brandon.
Natalie takes the stage at the Empire this Saturday night and I'm sure that seeing a solo act on a Saturday will be quite a change for a club that usually books mainly duos and bands.
Speaking of bands at the Empire, I'm sure that everyone down there will be looking forward to the appearance of top band 70s Express, who are set to appear down there on November 23.
